Kitenge is an ethical clothing brand investing in local industries and building on their expertise. Lovingly handmade, Kitenge designs are created from small runs of African wax print fabrics. Every item is individually hand-cut, made by Tanzanian tailors, with each purchase helping to improve their livelihoods and support their fine craftsmanship.

THE BRIEF
Kitenge has an existing Etsy store and pop-up stall that appears at music festivals throughout the year. Both of these work great for brand awareness but there wasn’t an established website to sell their items through. Kitenge required an easy to manage online store that they could promote at events, gain another source for revenue, and give them their own online presence.
THE SOLUTION
We took Kitenge’s existing brand, evolved it and designed a bespoke WordPress theme whilst working closely with the client to dial in the details they were so passionate about. We built the store on WooCommerce which offers them a full range of powerful features and the scalability to grow the business.
THE RESULT
Kitenge needed a robust CMS to handle the ongoing updates their site required. Our solution was a heavily customised WordPress + WooCommerce combo featuring all sorts of awesome wizardry. We delivered a site and brand identity that beautifully represents the culture and vision of Kitenge. Together they make the perfect fit for a growing African wax print clothing market.
